How to Dress Like Olivia Palermo

Okay so although she came across as a right b*tch on The City, everyone knows Olivia absolutely smashes style. She has ridiculous taste and an unbelievable eye.
So I'm going to focus on a few of her looks and pick out her staple items:
1. Suits You
Olivia pulls off the female tux effortlessly, and is constantly working it down the street or at red carpet dos!
She takes a feminine twist on the classic suit by wearing black leather skinnies, a girly lace or sequined top underneath, and throwing in some quirky accessories such as a leopard print clutch or heeled duck boots. If you want to immolate this look, be sure to get well tailored pieces that show off your feminine shape and don't overwhelm your frame. Also look for menswear inspired pieces with girly details such as a satin trimmed lapel or dainty buttons.
2. Get Furry
The vest becomes the focal point in Olivia's outfit, and definitely brings a luxurious feel. Finding a vintage fur vest would be a perfect step in Olivia's style direction. And there are plenty of faux fur alternatives to achieve the same level of chic without harming animals.
3. Go Wide
Olivia is definitely a fan of 70s glamour, and constantly teams loose blouses with a wide-leg pant.
On days when the “I don’t know what to wear” syndrome bites especially badly despite a wardrobe filled with clothes, basics will always be a girl’s best friend. But if you’re not so keen on pulling your skinny jeans out once more and are looking for a more sophisticated yet very on-trend look, wide-leg pants are a stylish staple (proven by Gucci, and Marc Jacobs).
4. New Neutral
Olivia also has a thing with colours such as mustard yellow, musky beige, or tangerine orange. She wears these shades as if they are neutrals even though they create a unexpected pop of colour.  Olivia makes sure to wear these colors in sleek cuts and modern silhouettes. Picking up a frock in a quirky color like these would be a great way to incorporate a little of Olivia's style into your look.
5. Bold
Olivia is known predominantly for her lavish jewellery, and as most of you may know, has just launched her own collection!  "Roberta by Olivia Palermo"
Obviously I am a huge fan.
Olivia embellishes all of her outfits with statement pieces, bringing an individual flair to her style.

A final remark: Break all the rules!

Many of us fall into the “safe” dressing trap: shying away from prints or bright colours simply because we think it’s easier. And sure, we all have our token bright colored or animal print belt/shoe/clutch, worn in an attempt to “jazz-up” our safe wardrobes, but ladies, is “safe’ the term we want describing our style?

Pairing an animal print with a bright colour may cause some to cower in fear, but as Olivia demonstrates, there is nothing to be afraid of- so long as you follow a few simple rules:  Be sure to anchor with neutral accessories, and keep either your pant or top tailored – ensuring a grown-up, put together look.
Olivia is always on the cutting edge of fashion and is fearless in the face of daring styles. Be a trend setter, not a trend follower.
